A new sanctuary for the St. William Parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Austin was constructed to accommodate its rapidly growing community. The building increased worship service capacity from 600 seats at the church's previous facility to 1,500 seats at the new sanctuary.

The old-world character of the building belies a modern steel framework. This structure facilitates daring barrel vaults and a central dome while also minimizing the need for interior columns that would obstruct parishioners' views.
