Magnolia Montessori for All
Project Description
Magnolia Montessori for All offers high-quality, authentic Montessori education to approximately 500 pre-K-6th grade students from historically disadvantaged and underserved communities in East Austin. In place of a traditional single school building, the design team conceived a village with clusters of small house-like classrooms that are tucked into the sloping site. The classroom structures are wood framed with concrete slab-on-void foundations, and have large windows and dormers to allow natural lighting in the learning environment. In addition to the classroom buildings, the campus also includes a multi-purpose room, an administrative building, and an outdoor pavilion with built-in seating.
